The College Band is a large ensemble open to all students of the college. Currently, the Band consists of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments.
The Band meets each Tuesday morning to rehearse repertoire covering a wide range of musical styles, from movie themes, jazz, pop, Broadway hits and music from other cultures. The College Band can often be seen performing around the local community at festivals and eisteddfods. Please click for an enrolment form.
The Jazz Ensemble has proven to be a popular addition to the performance ensembles of the College this year. The Ensemble currently consists of two Electric Guitars, Bass Guitar, Piano, Drums, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone and Tenor Saxophone. Members of the Ensemble are a talented group of students who demonstrate great versatility in playing different jazz styles, from Blues, Swing, Cool Jazz and Latin.
The Jazz Ensemble frequently performs at functions within the College such as Open Day, assemblies, and the annual Creative Arts Night. They are also recognized in the local community for their excellent results in eisteddfods and band competitions.
'My Guitar School' has been offering group guitar lessons to students at Marist College Eastwood for the past 9 years.
Winner of the 2010 Inner West Business Achiever Award for Community & Other Education (and a finalist since 2006), previously named as one of the "Top 50 Coolest Companies" in Australia as part of Australian Anthill Magazines Cool Company Awards, and named as one of the Top 5 businesses in the Inner West in the 2007 Local Business Awards, My Guitar School celebrated its 10th Birthday in 2008.
With the goal of providing professional and affordable quality guitar tuition, My Guitar School has designed its courses to allow students to learn at an easy and motivating pace. With fun and constructive music content, incorporating a broad range of guitar styles, most beginner students can be playing within 10 weeks.
My Guitar School also teaches intermediate and advanced students and can offer assistance with the practical elements of HSC music.
The Vocal Ensemble is open to all students who enjoy singing. The group covers a wide range of repertoire encouraging students to develop their musicianship through part singing whilst also giving opportunities for students to sing solos. The group performs regularly at College masses and other functions with the highlight being the Creative Arts Night where they are accompanied by the College's Jazz and Rock Bands.
The ensemble rehearses Monday lunch times in the Music Room. No previous experience needed.
